E-prescribing
| | | E-prescribing otherwise known as electronic prescribing, is fast becoming a fantastic tool for physicians and patients alike. Once a physician has consulted with a patient, a prescription is sent electronically to the patient's pharmacy of choice. This is done by using the eRx application via their portable device of choice. It then automatically verifies if there are any possible interactions with drugs that the patient may already be taking. | E-prescribing far reduces the possibility for errors; given that the prescription is e-mailed or faxed to participating pharmacists, the document is printed and thus legible unlike the traditional method. Not only is the prescription legible, but thanks to the electronic script, it could be thoroughly verified for errors such as dosage and duplicates. As result everything is streamlined, jointly with the billing process as all necessary documents have already been confirmed. |

December 8, 2011
New Orleans, LA, December 4, 2011 - Epson America, Inc., a leading global supplier of inkjet printing technology, announced today at The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (AHSP) Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition that its SecurColorTM on-demand inkjet label printer is an ideal solution for hospital pharmacies looking to implement accurate and cost effective color labels for unit dose, syringe and IV bag labeling. With a low particle-generating printer such as Epson's SecurColor, hospital pharmacies can continue to comply with USP 797 standards -- which require compounded sterile preparations (CSPs) to be formulated inside laminar flow workstations within clean rooms -- while also improving patient care and minimizing the risk of human error.
